Forgotten Sox; Guillen and Chavez, my bros
I have hardly followed baseball at all this season, but I have to tune into the World Series. It's too storybook to not watch, and baseball, for chrissake, has been as storied as it's ever been the last few years. Baseball has surely given us some drama, as long as you watch the playoffs.
And you gotta pull for those fogotten sox outta Chi-town. In a two team town, the sox could never get the due credit their mediocrity deserved, especially when going head to head with the Cubbies, America's favorite schumucks.
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun hit it pretty much on the head when he said the Cubs "are like the high school nerd that keeps getting cut from sports teams and turned down by cheerleaders but never gives up" but the White Sox "are the kid no one remembers, the nonentity, the one you have to look up in the yearbook just to make sure he was in your class."
(What is really funny is that there's a dude that writes about baseball at the B. Sun named Peter SCHMUCK)
I think I know more coaches on Chi-town's staff than players. No, I'm sure of it. Ozzie Guillen is a champ, plus they have Tim Raines and good ol' Harold Baines. Gotta love Harold, a former Oakland A. I've been an Ozzie Guillen fan for days-- I remember chillin with my cousin at Grandma's pad, swapping cards and talkin' ball...

Not to mention the fact that Ozzie is a Venezuelan. Hugo Chavez... America's new favorite ally. Well, I guess not if we're talking governments, but Hugo is way more of a friend to the impoverished parts of the country than Georgie-boy. How can it be that an evil communist is taking better care of down and out Americans than the leaders of the so-called free world? He's even offered to pay for the world's eye surgery in a plan he hatched with his bro Fidel.

I do hope Chicago can shake that Black Sox curse. I believe Shoeless Joe was framed myself, but I just liked "Field of Dreams." it seems. That Crede kid is something else. He's got a solid spine, you can tell.
And I could never cheer for a Texas team, period. But I do love Bagwell and Biggio. Those guys are true blue... Bagwell's got the squatty thing going, it's great. I wish they could win a ring, but I just don't think it'll happen.
