San Francisco (Digital Dementia News Services – Levi Strauss, maker of the immensely popular “Levi 501” jeans is in massive retreat after conservative religious groups denounced its latest line of jeans being marketed to young women.

The source of the controversy is “Levi 0.000501” jeans.

“Levi 0.000501 jeans are an outrage!” fumed Pat Robertson. “They are entirely too skimpy. Low slung jeans were bad enough, but these just don’t cover the subject matter”.

Levi 0.000501 jeans are selling briskly in some markets despite their $120 price tag.

Some arrests have been made of young women who dared to wear the Levi 0.000501 jeans in public. Officer Barry Conners of Biloxi, Mississippi commented, “Yeah, I had to arrest a 21 year old woman last night who was wearing a pair of these tiny jeans outside a bar on the edge of town. I won’t say she didn’t look hot. The fact is, she looked so hot it made my mouth water, but the sergeant made it clear that we were to arrest anyone wearing these jeans for public lewdness. Personally, I think I will buy a pair for my wife and see if I can get her to at least wear them around the house.”

Ads for the provocative new women’s jeans have caused quite a stir in America. In Europe, notably in France, there was little more than a collective yawn.

That is not to say that everyone in France is pleased with this latest trend in women’s fashion.

“Eet ees wan zing for zeh young mademoiselle to wear zees 0.00501 jeans, but can you imagine zeh horror eef you see your grandmother in zees? Mon Deu!” said François Calais of Paris.

President Bush said "None of the Bush ladies will be putting their bushes on public display by wearing the new Levi pants. I won't allow it! Right-minded, God-fearing Americans are not going to allow their wives daughters to go out in public wearing these so-called jeans that leave their pudenda hanging out for all men to leer at!"

"Besides," the president added, "they will attract gnats!”
