Baby Jessica: 20 Years Later

If you are in your 30's or older you will immediately find the title somehow familiar, if not, you may still enjoy reading about a happy ending in Texas 20 years ago.

I myself was 11 years old and still learning English after having come to the USA 3 year earlier.  I did not understand everything that was being said on the TV, but knew it was important because the same story was on all the time.  It did not take long to figure out that a little girl, a baby at 18 months old, fell into a narrow water well, and was stuck.  After 58 hours, mostly televised live, of continuous rescue effort the little girl was saved.  I know I had tears of joy on my face as did most of America that day. 

Baby Jessica, and the effort to save her, for me represented the best in humanity and brotherhood among men.
