MYSTERY GRAFFITI ARTIST *BANKSY* TAGS BIRTHPLACE OF JESUS

Artist Banksy leaves his mark on Bethlehem

Rebecca Harrison- The Scotsman

British graffiti artist Banksy has painted a series of subversive murals in the town revered as the birthplace of Jesus.

He has created six provocative new images-including a dove of peace strapped with a bulletproof vest and a young girl with pigtails frisking an Israeli soldier - on buildings around Bethlehem on the West Bank, in an attempt toboost tourism.

He has also converted a fast-food shop opposite the Church of the Nativity into an art gallery, showing work by artists from the Palestinian territories and abroad.

Bethlehem's residents say military checkpoints and Israel's West Bankbarrier, which cuts into Palestinian land, are stifling tourism and damaging the economy ofthe area.

Banksy, some of whose works have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars, keeps his real identity secret and almost never gives interviews.

The Ageless Wisdom says - Palestine is the most important  and strategic spot where humanity has the choice  to win  or loose  Peace on Earth -
