The area around Eden Quay in Dublin city centre has reopened following a controlled explosion of a suspect device at a hotel.

The explosion was carried out by the army EOD team shortly after 1am. The package has been removed for forensic examination.

Up to 2,500 people were evacuated from the area after the device was discovered at the Clifton Court hotel just after 11pm last night.
