These days, it seems like they oughtg to just issue you a freebie checkout for an "automatic recall" one year from date of purchase.

Chrysler LLC said Friday it would recall nearly 300,000 sport utility vehicles to address potential braking problems while driving uphill.

In a separate move, Honda Motor Co. said it was recalling more than 180,000 Civics from the 2006-2007 model year to fix a wheel-bearing seal that could leak and lead to a wheel falling off the car.

At least if my shoes fail, it's not quite as catastrophic... and, hey, if the car's brakes fail, I can stick them down throught the floor Flintstones-style...

It seems that everything we buy these days is Either falling apart or needing up-dating !

The Curse of Mass Production is that they build them too quickly and so the standards and Quality is getting lost along the way.

Yes, and then, once someone alerts the media to the slipshot quality of a given product, the very company that cut corners during production goes, "Oh Em Gee, how'd that happen?!"

The good news is, someone is actually checking these things, informing the right people, and offering to fix the problem.  THAT doesn't happen in every country.

PEP,  Good stuff.

It has been said that China manufacturers a lot of Brakes and other
components for automakers, Now Public Readers who own any of the above
vehicles perhaps should inquire from their dealer if their car parts
are made in China. What with the rash of defective products coming out
of China, perhaps it would not hurt to inquire and or request to see
the faulty car parts to see if Made in China markings are evident.  You
may be surprised.

Thats why my auto is made exclusively in Texas, though I suspect there is plastic parts somewhere haha
