Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Fire razed 23 houses and killed six people
belonging to one family in the Karang Anyar area, Central Jakarta, on
Thursday night.

The fire started at around 11.45 pm local time on Thursday and was
extinguished at 2.30 am local time on Friday, Zainudin, a local
official of Sawah Besar sub district, Jakarta, said here on Friday.

The six dead victims were Saani (85), Masti (55), Suaibah (50), Mala Dewi (26), Dewi (2), and Erik (19).

The fire was believed to have started when gasoline that had spilled
out of a container was ignited by fire from a nearby stove. Rohim, a
son of Saani, was a gasoline vednor.  (*) END
