The 85,000 dollars brought the total of money already collected by the Al-Hikmah mosque for building the mosque to 285,000 dollars, which is actually still far from the 500,000 dollars needed to continue to early stages of the construction of the mosque. In the long run, about 1.5 million US dollars would be needed to build the mosque.
"Therefore we will also contact moslems of other nationalities who often came to the mosque for Friday prayers. And we will also send home to Indonesia a list of raising money for the same purpose," Syamsi Ali said.
According to the management of Al-Hikmah Mosque, now having only one floor and located in Queens Borough, will be further built into three floors, with the first floor as a parking lot, and the second floor meetings and conventions, and the third floor for a place to stay for the imams, religious courses, summer camp and for raising children.
