Looking for Love in All the Web Places
It is well documented that looking for love and
companionship in cyberspace & the real world can be interesting,
rewarding and dangerous. A significant difference
between these two dimensions is that the real world
permits a discrete dating enviorment in contrast to
the group... I use that word as an understatement,
dating scenario on the Net. As in the real world, virtual reality
can be cruel and deflating to one's ego when entering
into the dating game arena.
Usually, the ego is subjected to one or two verbal or
body-language slams subsequent to being "shot-down"
in the real world. Not so in the "rejected" phase
of cyberspace dating. The slings and arrows, as well
as abusive emails may originate from thousands of
negative sources to the extent that you wished you
could disappear. Fortunately, there are stories of
online dating with touching and happy endings. This
is one of those stories.
This story has many legs to run on.
Don't be surprised when the multi-media
spotlights it in the future.
For Web designer Patrick Moberg, 21, from Brooklyn, it was love at first sight when he locked eyes with a rosy-cheeked woman while riding in Manhattan on Sunday night. She was writing in her journal. The train was so full that he lost her in the crowd when they both got off, so he set up a Web site dedicated to finding the mystery woman -- www.nygirlofmydreams.com.
He drew a picture of the girl, who was wearing blue shorts, blue tights, and a red flower in her hair, and posted his cell phone number, e-mail address and an appeal for help finding her.
It worked.

Yeah, that story's all over NYC now -- with half of us thinking that it's really cute and half of us thinking that the guy's a big nerd and we want to beat him up (ok, so a lot of us are jerks). I'm on his side though!
Latest news is that the girl is Australian and her house recently burned down.

Any news in Australia?

There is some Australian coverage of this... evidently the company for which the girl interns, being a company, cannot help but try and capitalize on the publicity.

I'm a sucker for these types of stories. I knew a guy in college who wrote something with a lawnmower in tall grass beneath his sweetheart's res window. I thought that was pretty cool too.

vanityemailaddress, thanks for posting this! When I read the original story, I hoped the man was successful. Glad to see they found eachother, it satisfies my inner romantic idealist.
If they stay together it will make an interesting story to tell their grandchildren.
