Amazingly, a student gets accidentally shot in class during a gun sales transaction goes bad. How do students bring guns into classrooms? How does a 15-year-old not only own a gun, but be able to sell it?

Across town, a school resource officer was injured when an armed  20-year-adult stormed onto campus. His goal? Take out his anger on a 17-year-old girl. Why is a 17-year-old girl involved with a 20-year-old man with problems?

One more question: why were Memphis schools not using their metal detectors?

Two high schools in Memphis - Manassas and Fairley - found themselves linked together Wednesday when a handgun was discovered on each school's campus.

At Manassas, a 15-year-old student took a weapon to class he wanted to sell. The accidentally fired, striking a friend in the arm.

Moments later at Fairley, 20-year-old Eddie Smith arrived on campus in an attempt to confront a 17-year-old female student there. Memphis Police Lt. Joe Scott said a school resource officer was tipped that Smith might be a threat
