President supports stiff actions against misleading sects

"The MUI has made 13 points. The first is to take stern and appropriate measures against misleading religious sects. I support this. Let us carry it out together," the head of state said when opening an MUI national working meeting at the State Palace here Monday.

The president also supported MUI`s measures against mystic practices, fornication, gambling, alcoholic drink and drug abuse.

Yudhoyono said he backed MUI`s steps in acting against pornography, corruption, violence against women and children, violence in society, copyright hijacking and crime.

The head of state also called on MUI to increase its role and contributions to the Indonesian people and country so that it would be able to solve various problems.
