RED CROSS AND MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE HOST “FIRE SAFETY NIGHT” AT SANTA'S ENCHANTED FOREST

WHO/WHAT:  In hopes of making a safe holiday season for families, the local Red Cross and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue will host the first ever Fire Safety Night at Santa’s Enchanted Forest. More than 100 children affected by fires this year will be invited to this special event along with their parents in an effort to prevent other fires. Also present, will be Red Cross volunteers & staff who provided emergency assistance to these families. Each guest will be treated to a fire safety presentation by Miami Dade Fire Rescue, receive goody bags and enjoy all the rides free of charge. Santa Claus will make a special guest appearance and distribute teddy bears donated by Bill Ussery Motors.

Santa’s Enchanted Forest at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40 St., Miami
7:15 – 7:30: Santa arrives with teddy bears
7:30 – 7:45: Fire Safety Presentation


WHY: American Red Cross and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue wish to liven the spirits and educate families who have been victims of fires this year. This past fiscal year, the local Red Cross responded to 406 fires and provided emergency assisted to more than 729 families. During the holiday season, many factors come together that can lead to unexpected tragedies. Many holiday fires are caused by home heating sources, unattended cooking, and candles. Following fire safety tips can help alleviate the chance of accidents among families during this time of year.
