I thought it might be useful to keep a running tab of those accounts found to be habbitual spammers. Hopefully we can get some spam accounts deleted this way.
- cravenorg - all stories flagged as spam
- barry123 - all stories flagged as spam
- DanAndJenn - I want to flag them, but it looks like they are posting here and then posting to thier blog. Dating advice blog...
- todd7 - all stories flagged as spam
- zamhaziq - just one story, total spam..video links
- msgbeepa - I think we could mark everything as incomplete
- arielbujeiro - My Spanish is a little rusty, but it appears that he is just trying to repost evertying from his blog...all video tutorials.

What a fabulous idea, BD. I'd like to invite all others to add to this list. I will check these out.
So taking off from where BD started, this makes me think we might want to create a corral where we can all take potshots at offending spammers.
Of course I have a nuclear option of totally blocking an account.

Thanks, I figure we can keep track of some folks and mention others that are questionable. Eventually I would like to come up with a process to "submit" a spammer to someone (be it ANG or another Editor) to review the posts that were marked as spam and the poster's account to decide what the next course of action would be. That way there is some type of checks and balances, as well as continuity in emails to contributors...before they get nixed.
I also like the nuke idea!

The potshot idea is a good one, ANG.

group hug for BD!!! I am all for routing the spammers and those who just plain abuse the system.
To me, if a contribution should contain one or more of these elements:
1. Original news, from what they have witnessed
2. Commentary or critique of current news issue
3. Commentary or critique or opinion on a news snip
4. New information on a news story
so called 'articles' are a grey area for me... especially when not related to current affairs. Recepies i've seen...general info stuff.

I should add that items with no words, just headline and link get nuked - no hesitation

"Technology" gets quite a bit of spam, mostly from one-offs. Also, the news in that section tends to relate to retail products, so I'm getting a bit more fussy as to what I will "let slide"; basically, no more mentions of new products without some kind of commentary or disclosure. I'd not want one of my favorite sections to become all about the advertorial, especially when there is mooninite news to be uncovered.
The most recent repeat offender has been msgbeeba, which has clearly not escaper your collective attention!

OK, just flagged another Lion & Lam Ministry post. Blatantly no news content. I'm not J. Jonah Jameson or nothin', but I know a lack of news when I see it!

I'm crabby today...
This is not spam, just a hot comment thread worth reading (which I agree with Blueshoe on). After reading the original article I was a little suspicious of the content myself.
