June 9 - As frankenstein pulls the switch he looks with bulging eyes. Aware that this, his life's work could be realized. Mad with power and a certain looming triumph he flips the switch. Unaware of the implications that will come with one flick of the wrist.

Descriptions like these are often reserved for sci-fi novels and hollywood. The ironic thing is the makers of these films and books never truly thought we would actually come to a point in our society where we would actually be Dr. Frankenstein. The movie "The Future of Food" a documentary on the current state of the food crisis in our world and tells how a company like monsanto (who genetically modifies thier seeds) managed to actually patent around 11,000 different seeds. It also tells the tale of how once upon a time it was safe to eat just about anything you found in the supermarket. Those days are unfortunately gone with corporations like monsanto competing to make our foods unsafe by ignoring the pleas of the FDA to cease putting GMO foods on shelves.

The movie also chroinicles the uprising of a new food standard we've all come to know as organic. A system birthed to counter the unhealthy standard of conventional food allowed on supermarket shelves. A standard so stringent it requires the farmer to comply with a 215 page booklet in order to have thier crops become certified organic.

All together the film was well put together and informative. This is most certaintly a film for every man women and child who eats food and wants to fight the future.
