Well let's just say when this comes to fruition, Canadians will all be paying more, as history has shown retailers and the Taxman will always round off prices to the nearest tenth of a cent.  It may be only a Penny, but with Billions of dollars consumers and businesses spend every year, it certainly adds up.  Adds up for Retailers and a Loonie Government who does not give a "Plug Nickel" for Canadian Consumers.

The feds are spending many a penny to get Canadians' thoughts on the lowliest coin of them all as pressure grows to make Canada penniless.

According to documents released under the Access to Information Act, the Royal Canadian Mint had commissioned a study under the finance department's direction to survey the Canadian public, small businesses and senior decision-makers in large organizations on "the value of the penny."

According to an e-mail exchange between various mint and finance department officials, Altitude Marketing Research offered the mint a $110,515 quotation to complete the study.

A spokesman for the mint confirmed the study has been completed and is under review before it is publicly released.
