Love by Flickr - a modern romance story
I was just reading NowPublic's Flickrmail account, and saw that Mindless Afternoon had made us a contact. I was just ready to go back to answering our email when a line flashed at me just as I had hit the back button. What was that?
"Flickr has changed my life in a short time. I came here because of my love for photography but I also found the love of my life..."
My journalist's instinct kicked into gear (or was it something else?)...went back and read this:
This is one of those stories that are too good to be true. We are still thinking that we are dreaming and loving every moment. Two flickr addicts living in different countries decided to meet in London for the first time at the Purple bar...
(And finally I had the perfect moment to wear that black dress!)
Love you Ricardo (redrumblefish)!
And it continued...
Mindless afternoon is a state of mind.
Photography is one of two things that makes me forget time and space - being mindless. The other thing is kissing ;-).
Flickr has changed my life in a short time. I came here because of my love for photography but I also found the love of my life - my dear brilliant redrumblefish. See also A true flickr romance beyond words We are living proof of love at first sight (actually sight of first photography ;-)).
But maybe I can tempt either Mindless Afternoon or Ricardo fill in the blanks by sending them the link to this story.
Ain't it fascinating how people are meeting through their inherent passions, instead of just the tawdriness of people looking for passion?

Found another piece of the story, in a caption to a photography by Mindless...
"The story so far:
Mindless Afternoon is a disillusionized dating expert/Internet
consultant who´s just decided to devote her life to photography instead
of men.
Redrumblefish
starts to comment her pics. She doesn´t pay much attention first. Until
one day when she goes through his stream and feels a strong, warm
sensation. She asks him if he is still single as a comment on one of
his pictures. He answers back. He is single...But..he lives in Denmark,
she in Sweden. (He is Portuguese and she is Hungarian, they speak
English ;-P)
This is the beginning of the love story beyond words. After a week of
chatting, weight loss and sleepless nights they decide to meet up in
London. Already they are saying that they love each other and book only
1 hotel room.
He arrives earlier than she and leaves his stuff at the
hotel room and waits at the bar they have decided. When she arrives to
the hotel room there is a note for her and a rose on the bed. Also
there are his things and his perfume that he left her to smell. She
orders a glass of white wine and dresses up in a black beautiful dress,
that has been waiting for a special occasion. She´s got butterflies in
her stomach.
He has already been waiting for 2 hours (at Purple bar at the Sanderson
hotel) when she enters the room and sees him for the first time. He is
wearing a white shirt and a black tie, looking terribly handsome. She
drinks a blueberry martini and falls completely in love. They start to
kiss whithin 5 minutes, order food but can´t eat.
They take a taxi back
to the hotel room together...
They didn´t see much tourist attractions at all in London. She had
never felt something like this before.
In 4 months they have experienced more than many people do in their
life time. They have been travelling extensively, spent crazy nights at
hotels, had pillow fights, 5 h long naked breakfasts, got engaged, lost
a parent, cried in each other arms, decided a name for their future
cat, laughed their pants off, photographed everything from churchyards,
stuffed animals to intimate moments in dressing rooms. In 2 months she
is planning to move to Copenhagen and start her new life with the man
of her dreams. Not an ordinary life. Something out of this world.
Magical, exciting and with small everyday wonders.

Why are you so good ANG? "Ain't it fascinating how people are meeting through their inherent
passions, instead of just the tawdriness of people looking for passion?"

Wow, I just read some of their photo entries and they ARE twin souls. They took the exact same pictures without knowing eachother. The one with the blindfolds is fascinating. They are both captured, self portraits, black and white, wearing blindfolds. And they are both gorgeous -- of course she is Hungarian :)

My girlfriend found me through a friend on myspace (neither of us were trolling for significant others) and then went to look at my flickr photos...she was drawn to one photo of me from a creative spree brought on by insomnia. Soon after she sent me an email to say "hi"...I'll leave out the other details ;)
