Funky as you get erotic poetry, music, drink and great conversation were the order of the evening at Carlitos Café and Galeria on Monday, May, 21st, 2007. "LOVE, LUST & LOSS" EROTIC POETRY NITE II presented by “Words” from El Barrio was an evening of unrestrained poetic passion, longing and the pursuit of love in all its encarnations.
This is a weekly open mic series with varying themes where poets from the metropolitan area, the nation and abroad come to celebrate cultural diversity and the human spirit. On any given night amazing, and sometimes well known poets, and musicians will drop in and jam unannounced. The “Words” from El Barrio open mic series is hosted by poet extraordinaire, author and activist, Bobby Gonzalez and is produced by musicologist and poet, Jaime "The Maestro" Emeric.
This Monday night there were artists from “The People’s Republic of Brooklyn”, “The Free State of Queens”, “Sovereign Kingdom of the Bronx” and the City-State of New York also known as Manhattan. The evening featured Joe Falcon on Bass as well as Gillian, Gianna, Taina, Tabu’, Malik (“Wordbird” Canty), Jackie, Fabian and others. It’s located in El Barios cultural corridor in a funky store-front hole-in-the-wall local on 1701 Lexington Ave (106th/107th Streets).
