There's a rumor circulating that Magnolia Bakery, which was made famous by Sex in the City, may be bought out of its lease by Ralph Lauren or another high end retailer. The bakery is located on Bleeker Street in the West Village and attracts people from Newark to New Guinea who line up daily to get their hands on the famous $1.50 cup cakes. As high end retail rolls down Bleeker Street, it's just a matter of time before most if not all of the independently owned stores go out of business or are forced to relocate. None of this is confirmed by either company but sources say that Magnolia will be relocating on 8th Avenue in the West Village, or west of 8th.
