Maireid Sullivan's Channel

Professor Tim Flannery recently posed a provocative question:
"Sometime this century, after 4 billion years, some of Earth’s regulatory systems will pass from control through evolution by natural selection, to control by human intelligence. Will humanity rise to the challenge?"

I am a lover of music and laughter, a singer/dancer/poet/songwriter, an ever enthusiastic filmmaker, an intrepid world traveler, a life-long student of history, and a Media Arts Consultant.

I was born in West Cork, Ireland, and I've lived equal time in Ireland, California and Australia and for shorter periods in many other beautiful places. I have been singing traditional Irish songs since my early childhood, and many of my original songs reflect on humanity's heritage of joy –particularly as reflected in Irish Celtic culture. With my partner Ben Kettlewell, who is a truly gifted multi-instrumentalist, composer, music journalist, computer wiz and collaborator, I work from our studio – Lyrebird Media – www.lyrebirdmedia.com – situated on the edge of the “green belt” in North Eastern Melbourne, Australia, where we compose and record our music for live concerts and CDs and for film soundtracks. As Media Arts Consultants, we produce, direct and edit film projects with others: including pre and post film production, CD / DVD encoding and production, copy editing, graphic art, and websites. And, we take breaks from the technology to work in our organic/BioDynamic veggie garden and bird sanctuary.
