Man Attempts to Cash Phony Check with Dozens of Uniformed Police Present

A Detroit man picked a bad day to try to pass a bad check, authorities say. An alleged scam artist who attempted to cash a counterfeit check in a store that was occupied by dozens of uniformed police officers was charged Wednesday with uttering and publishing.
