Man Can Become Blind Because of Herbal Drugs for Impotency

The man's vision was affected. Blurred or blue-tinted vision is one of the known side effects of Viagra.


In issuing an alert, Singapore's Health Sciences Authority (HSA) urged the public not to buy "health products that claim to improve sexual health, impotency or have aphrodisiac properties as they may contain potent Western medical ingredients such as sildenafil."

The warning followed a case in which a middle-aged man picked up a box of Urat Madu in Indonesia which promised help for impotence.

It contained siloenafil, the active ingredient in the nti-impotence drug Viagra.

The man's vision was affected. Blurred or blue-tinted vision is one of the known side effects of Viagra.

The HSA said in another case a man became blind for some time and is now recovering. He had taken a Chinese herbal medicine.
