A 35-year-old man is dead following the latest shooting in Richmond, which comes just a week after a gang gun battle rocked a quiet neighbourhood in the Lower Mainland city.

Police say they got a call early early Thursday morning reporting a man had been shot in his vehicle near the intersection of Shell Road and Westminster Highway.

They found the badly wounded man slumped over the wheel of his black pickup truck. He was taken to Vancouver General Hospital where he died. His name has not been released.

RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr of the Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said it appears to have been a targeted killing.

But he also said police have not found any connection with last week's shootout, adding that the victim was not known to police.
