What amazes me is that when traveling, a woman with a small child can't take a sippy cup through security..but a man can hide a monkey in his ponytail from Lima, Peru -- change airplanes in the U.S. -- and get on an international flight to New York City without getting caught?  Is this not obsurd?

During the flight, people around the man noticed that the marmoset, which normally lives in forests and eats fruit and insects, had emerged from underneath his hat,

That must've been some ponytail. Marmosets are pretty hyper little guys, too-- did he give the marmoset a good book or something?
Reminds me: a guy from my high school tried to smuggle a live iguana back from Mexico into California on a plane. He hid the lizard in his shorts. As the cabin pressurized, the lizard went nuts, attacking, well, his you-know-whats. Mayhem ensued, and the lizard was removed from the cabin. The would-be iguana smuggler was let off with a warning: I guess the flight crew wanted him out of Mexico as soon as possible.

Victoria, obviously the simian didn't have a sippy cup... otherwise the strong arm of the law would have announced its presence with authority much earlier.  Now if we could just convince terrorists to carry sippy cups, the world would be a much safer place indeed -> Good stuff.

This is absurd and insane to me, Victoria! I read of a mother, traveling with her 18 month old son. Because the toddler wouldn't stop saying, "Bye, bye, plane! Bye, bye, plane!", the plane was turned around and mother and child were put off the flight. This monkey was allowed to ride quietly in the seat with the guy?!?! Well, since the monkey couldn't talk, I guess that's why these two weren't kicked off!

I had a good laugh at this yesterday when I saw it. I suppose the poor monkey has no been labeled a susopected terrorist and is now locked in a cage somewhere

Are there really such tiny little creatures? Can still carry dangerous diseases, a major problem with smuggled wildlife.

Victoria Revay, I like this story. It's good stuff.  I noticed that one of the monkeys had its eyes shut.  Were they asleep?  Babies, new borns?  My wife and I often laugh about a carnival scam we witnessed decades ago that advertised "giant rats of the Paris sewers."  Turns out the animals were South American nutria from Paris, Argentina.
