March 30, 2007 California - A California man who died after jumping to escape a fire in his 18th floor condo might have survived if he had waited for rescuers to arrive. Authorities say firefighters were just one floor below John Carlyle Crews, 60, when he jumped from a balcony at the Galaxy Towers condominium in Long Beach, The Los Angeles Times reports.
