People's daily online reports that film producers from China , the United States and Britain began to shoot a new movie on the Nanking (the old name for Nanjing) Massacre in Nanjing which witnessed one of the worst Japanese war crimes during 70 years ago.The movie, Purple Mountain , based on Iris Chang’s book “rape of Rape of Nanking”. It is about 1937’s rape of Nanking by Japanese troops and international personage’s help for Chinese civilians during the holocaust. Just before this , Nanking , directed by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman ,and Nightmare of Nanking, the documentary movie by Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D. have been shown in the whole of China .Both of these movies have evoked strong repercussions in the audiences. 2007 marks the 64 anniversary of the Nanking Massacre. To the Nanking Massacre, most experts agreed that at least 300,000 Chinese men , women and children were randomly massacred, over 20,000 women and girls were raped and one third of the houses in the city were burned . It was an atrocity so shocking that even the Nazi was astounded by its inhumanity and horrifying crimes .A Schindler-like businessman , John Rabe , was moved to save 250,000 Chinese .Some international personages also provided protection for Chinese civilians generously . To this day , however , the Japanese government maintains that the death toll is greatly exaggerated and has refused to apologize for these and other atrocities in the 2nd World War. Some Japanese historians have denied the occurrence in public and tried to whitewash the atrocities that the Japanese army brought to China .“We hope we can make the film a classic on a massacre in the Second World War, just like the Schrindler’s list about the miserable experience of Jewish people during the war ,”says Gerald Green .Most directors hope that these films were able to help more westerners know the truth of Nanking Massacre according to their own ways and views.“’Nanking’ was made for no profit motive. I financed this film and produced it in its entirety on a personal basis. Once I recoup my investment, I will give all profits to the survivors and the related charities of this incident in China .’’ AOL Vice Chairman Ted Leonsis says. He also pointed out that "Nanking" is an anti-war film that shows the horrors of what happens to a poor civilian and innocent class of people when an invading army occupies a foreign land.More information

Good stuff, dunlinlin. The Japanese government must admit to the world what it did wrong in the past. Unfortunately, some rightwing nationalists in Tokyo do not want to admit what really happened in Asia during the early part of 20th century........from Nanking Massacre to Pearl Harbor...... but the young people of Japan do understand this and they will apologize later when they take power from the old people who run Japan now....meanwhile, these movies are important.....
