Mirthala Salinas should be fired from Telemundo because, according to the ethics of journalists, you are not to sleep with your sources. Salinas has done that at with at least three different men on the political food chain.

Telemundo is deciding whether she should keep her job when it comes to one question. Will the people believe anything she says? I do not believe so.

Definitions:

Whore: A person considered as having compromised principles for personal gain. or, a venal or unscrupulous person
Lie: to create a false or misleading impression

Power-Dater: People who only date people that can enhance their career, finances or social standing. This person is usually unable to obtain the desired status on their own.  (ie, men who only date models or women who only date millionaires)

1. How ethical can you be if you willingly have an affair with a married man? If Mirthala Salinas will steal a married man, what else will she steal? Unlike some women who can claim they did not know he was married, this clearly was not the case. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> She slept with her sources, as evidenced by the men she dated, and some of the "perks" she received.

2. She is a liar. All people who have affairs are liars. She is a liar because she told Telemundo when it was convenient for her to do so. Is She and the Mayor were doing their jobs so effectively why were they constantly spending time alone. The LAUSD is not in her townhouse. She may have told Telemundo that she did not want to cover the mayor anymore, but did she tell them she was having sex with him. What excuse did she use to constantly have the mayor in her home? The relationship goes back to five months after he took office.

3. She has power issues. This is at minimum the third political relationship she has entered.

A. Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, who has a wife and three children. He was divorced at the time of the affair, but later remarried his wife.

B. Senator Alex Padilla, when he was a councilman. She is the Monica Lewinsky of the Hispanic world. She is bound to stardom by getting down on her knees and opening her mouth.

4. She has daddy issues. Mayor Villaraigosa is 15 years her senior. Exactly what does she have in common with him?

5. She is a control freak. By the Mayor’s own words she is indicted. He said, “She said” that the relationship was going elsewhere.
Let’s face it Mayor Villaraigosa is lead around by his penis. He has the morals of an alley cat, and the integrity of a life long criminal.  This affair is a bad attempt of trying to recapture his youth.
Mirthala Salinas is an opportunist. She will be with the mayor as long as he is going up the political chain. The problem is that she might be his dead weight. The other problem is that Mayor Villaraigosa will probably go on to fresh meat if she loses her job.

she is not getting a prize catch with our Mayor, who is notorious for his affairs. He has two kids out of wedlock, had an affair while his wife was recovering from throat cancer, and is fast becoming known more for who he is sleeping with instead of what he is doing for this city. Maybe the two are a match afterall.

Assembly Speaker, Fabio Nunez, one of Villaraigosa’s best friends, also had a relationship with Salinas from the summer of 2003 until after his swearing in as Assembly Speaker in February 2004. The Speaker’s office confirmed to ERSNews.com that while the Speaker was divorced from his wife Maria (they have since remarried), Nunez and Salinas had a romantic relationship. Salinas attended Nunez’s swearing in as Speaker of the Assembly. Sources also tell ERSNews.com that Salinas would regularly fly to Sacramento to see the Speaker.   http://www.laobserved.com/archive/2007/07/mirthala_and_fabian.php

Mirthala Salinas got around in the club of Latino elected officials. David Zahniser, still at the LA Weekly, reports tonight that the mayor's current main squeeze previously dated Council President — now state Senator — Alex Padilla, who is single. (Speaker Fabian Nunez's office confirms he dated her as well.) Salinas made the rounds apparently while she reported on politics for Telemundo 52.  http://www.laobserved.com/archive/2007/07/she_dated_alex_padilla_to.php

Hey delzakiya this article is unsubstantiated and borderline in appropriate. Unless you can produce some sources I will keep it flagged. Please review our news values.

I find the language in the article rather judgmental. Calling someone a whore and a liar, not to mention actually judging her without something to support your opinion, does not do this website any favours.

What a sexist story.  If the genders were reversed no one would care.

Both parties in this case are morally bankrupt, but their reasons are different. Everybody in Los Angeles knows the mayor has the morals of an alley cat.

We elected him, we deserve him.

While I think that you've obviously put effort into writing this, it is definitely an opinion and not 'news' in the truest sense... more like emotionallly charged gossip.

MY opinion is that putting in definitions of the words you are labelling Ms. Salinas with doesn't make it an appropriate story for this site. It makes it obvious that you feel very strongly about it, and that you want to get your point across. I don't fault any part of that; I only question what you may think will result from posting this.

Perhaps, if you want more people to be interested in the actual 'News' of the story, you should avoid directly diagnosing the subject with 'Daddy Issues' or convicting her of social injustice.  I am reminded of a famous TV quote 'Just the facts, Ma'am'... have you taken time to find out what the facts of these situations are, in an unbiased way?

It is in the opinion section, not the news. If it is in the news, then that is the computer error. Here's the thing, show me one real reporter who does not spin the news to the side he is leaning, and I will show you someone who hasn't got a clue. People have a right to an opinion. The best thing is that we do not have to agree. Ah, America, land of the free.
