The parents of missing Madeleine McCann are to launch a libel action against a Portuguese newspaper which claimed they killed their daughter.Last week, Tal & Qual reported that the "police believe" Kate and Gerry McCann killed her, with the paper suggesting Madeleine may have died in an accident.
The McCanns' lawyers will file for defamation, saying the "untrue" story had caused "suffering and humiliation".
Police have stressed that the McCanns, of Rothley, Leics, are not suspects.

The tide has really turned against the McCanns in Portugal. I'm not entirely sure why but perhaps it was inevitable - they gain sympathy and then they gain wrath. That seems to be how these things work sometimes.
The case of the missing child is very strange, though, and seems to be getting stranger. I find it bizarre that they haven't had one solid lead in the entire investigation. How can someone just disappear? It's human nature for us to start to suspect the parents, I suppose.
