Memorial Park is dedicated to the memory of those who have fought and died in service of their country. Featuring winding paths, benches, and flowering bushes, this 7-acre park is a lovely place to spend an afternoon. The Vietnam Memorial Monument features two free standing granite walls inscribed with the names of South Carolinians killed or lost in action in Vietnam. Standing between the two walls is a five-sided pylon, carved in frieze motifs portraying contributions by each branch of the armed forces.Located throughout the park are other memorials including those for the U.S.S. Columbia CL-56, and veterans of the China-Burma-India campaigns during World War II.The Pearl Harbor Memorial bears the inscription, "In memory of the twenty-five men from South Carolina who gave their lives during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and on other military bases on 7 December 1941."Memorial Park is located at the corner of Gadsden & Hampton Streets.
