The countdown to Miami, and the Superbowl XLI hype machine is underway. However, before we head to Miami Beach for some nudeness, sun, and bong(o)s there is much work to be done. There are 8 teams that remain alive and well in the Superbowl hunt, at least until late this Sunday anyway. After such a lame-o National Championship game, the DugOut is ready for some football drama. And what better way to prepare for the fun then making predictions and then watching them totally fall apart.
During the MLB playoffs the fans really stepped up and shared some awesome moments, and it would be great to get some photographs or video from the games this weekend. Are you attending a playoff game Going to the Superbowl? or Are you tailgating in your city for the big showdowns. If anyone can get a picture of Rex Grossman (Bears - QB) puking in the locker room toilet before the game that would be cool, as well. Plus if you are reading any worthy NFL commentary on the web please add it as a comment.
*The DugOut is not responsible if you bet with his predictions and then have to pay off your debt to Tommy no-nose, but if you win you can tip him up to and including 45%. Fair?
NFC Playoff Race...
Chicago Bears 27 - Seattle Seahawks 21
I like the Bears because they have a defense that hurts people, and a quarterback who has something to prove. And in case he cannot prove anything they have a backup QB who can step in and play well enough for them to win. Plus what town deserves it more than Chicago and Brian Urlaucher, middle linebacker for the Bears. The Chi-town hero deserves at least one playoff win this year.
New Orleans Saints 25 - Philly Eagles 28
I like the Eagles who are playing inspired ball, especially on Defense. Plus, Jeff Garcia will not make mistakes in this big game down in the Bayou. Eagles keep on rolling!
AFC Playoff Race...
San Diego Chargers 31 - New England Patriots 24
I like the Chargers to keep on moving. A strong mix of defense and offense will allow them to advance, but they may end up limping a little after playing the always-physical Patriots. Plus it is great to watch Tom Brady lose.
Baltimore Ravens 21 - Indy Colts 24
I like Indy to pull this game out. If any game comes down to a showoff it will be this one in Baltimore. The Ravens have the best Defense and the Colts have the best Offense. And while I like the Ravens I think that Payton Manning and his huge head will prevail in the end. The * is that if it is snowing in Baltimore the Ravens will win.

Well, 2-2 ain't bad. The Saints pulled it out and beat the Eagles. The Bears kicked a winner in OT to keep them home for the NFC Title game. Meanwhile, the Colts, having beaten the Ravens, will have to face yet another Tom Brady blockade, but at least it will be at home in the dome. As the Patriots capitalized to edge the Chargers. Hmm, The DugOut sure enjoyed the weekend action, and has a front runner for the Superbowl, but will post it later:)
