Out of last year's 3,916 cases of missing persons below 18 years, Bengal led the list of states and union territories with 60% of the total cases Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Assam followed Bengal.

The state had registered 2,529 cases an almost 100 per cent increase in such cases. In 2005, Bengal registered 1,451 cases while in 2004 it was 579. But, in Delhi, the trend appeared to be on decline as from the whopping 1,715 cases in 2004, it had only 370 such cases last year. In 2005, there were 340 such cases.
