Missing Colo. Lawyer Scoop Daniel may have flown coop

There is a website pleading with readers worldwide to help find Colorado lawyer Royal "scoop" Daniel. The 61 year old has been missing since April 27.

But what authorities think is really missing is about one million bucks of his clients' money.

The first official word on what authorities suspect may have happened came Tuesday.

“We believe Mr. Daniel took clients’ funds,” said John Gleason, a lawyer for the state Supreme Court’s attorney regulation office.

“We are not sure how much. My concern is that it is a lot — as much as $1 million,” he told The Denver Post in Wednesday’s editions. “We certainly don’t want him practicing law in Colorado or anywhere else.”

Authorities said they would release “significant information” on Daniel’s’ disappearance later Wednesday.
