The leader of an artists' cooperative was apprehended and sentenced to probation for illegally setting up a secret apartment inside the Providence Place Mall in Providence, Rhode Island.

I knew a guy who lived with a bunch of other artists in an abandoned hospital in Holland. I asked them why they chose to live there, and their answer was "Because we can."

They all made money and had jobs, and could mostly afford to pay for an apartment. They chose not to because it was an option to choose not to. I think it's pretty neat, myself.
