Indonesia to take advantage of ASEAN single window system

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia will take advantage of the Asean Single Window (ASW) system which is being implemented in accordance with the blueprint of the Asean Economic Community (AEC), Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Boediono said here on Tuesday.
"The advantage of the ASW is for us and not for other countries," the minister said at the Finance Ministry.
He said the single window system was being implemented at national level in several phases.
"We need to prepare it at national level before being continued at Asean level because it has its own schedule and therefore we still have time to prepare it," Boediono said.
The minister said the implementation of the Asean Single Window had at least two advantages. The first was that it accelerated export-import processes and improved the effectiveness and performance of import-export traffic management, and the second was that it minimized the time and cost of export-import traffic management. especially in relation with customs and cargoes clearance.
The first phase of ASW`s implementation in Indonesia was carried out on December 17 last year and the second phase would take place in April this year.
After the first phase implementation, it will be followed by implementation at national level until early October this year.(*) END
