Lim said the Temasek news raises the chance for it to merge BII with PT Bank Danamon, in which it has a controlling stake, or to set up a holding company for the two banks.
Temasek has another option to sell its stake in either BII or Danamon.
The move is to comply with a regulation that forbids the holding of controlling stakes in more than one bank by end-2010. A decision on which option to take has a deadline set for end of this month.
Yesterday, the composite index closed up 11.32 points or 0.4 percent at 2,790.27, off an intraday high of 2,814.45.
Volume was 2.85 billion shares worth 4.51 trillion rupiah.
The Indonesian rupiah was trading at 9,162/9,167 to the dollar, against 9,265/9,270 previously.
