Man dials up $85,000 cellular bill
Imagine the look on the dad's face when he opened this bill for $85,000. Piotr Staniaszek is an unemployed oilpatch worker in Grande Prairie whose bills all go to his parents' home. He didn't realize the cost that was piling up when he used his cell phone to download movies into his computer. AARGH!
A Grande Prairie man was hit with a whopping $85,000 cellphone bill this month, after using the device to download movies to his computer.Piotr Staniaszek, who works in the oilpatch, said he should have been warned earlier.
"They never called me when it got up to $1,000 or $2,000 or $30,000," he said.
Bell Canada said Staniaszek's browsing package is meant for Internet and e-mail use on the cellphone only.
The bill has been recalculated using a lower rate, but Staniaszek says he won't pay.

On the other hand, would the mobile carrier not contact the customer if an unusually high bill (i.e. thousands of dollars) was in the offing?
