Great news today for investors in NowPublic.  NewsVine, a NP competitor, has been acquired by MSNBC, a division of General Electric.  The linked article mentions a number of traditional media players buying into non-traditional media, such as 'crowd powered news' sites.

yes, it is an interesting development for the social news networking indsutry. NowPublic has never really seen it self as a competitor with Newsvine. Although there are parallels between the two organizations, we are focused on different areas.
