Dorothy Wade reckoned she landed herself a real bargain when she picked up a Saxon-style home for just £100.The timber hut was one of the 134 lots going yesterday at an auction, which was selling what was left of Derventio Heritage Village.
The Viking village, which opened last August in Chaddesden at a cost of £900,000 of public money from Derwent Community Team, closed six months later because it failed to attract enough visitors and lost money.
The auction was held to make as much as possible of the £20,565 owed to the taxman and other creditors.
Mrs Wade, of Sunny Hill, had gone along to the sale just to have a browse.
