Small Business Month: The story of one Entrepreneur's Journey - Step One: Resources
During the month of October, it seems appropriate to focus
on small business and entrepreneurship. With this month being dubbed as “Small
Business Month” in Canada,
this Canadian can’t get enough of the
abundance of events, expos, conferences and seminars to do with everything that
you could possibly want to know about starting your own business. I’ve always
wanted to start my own business, and now seems as good a time as any with the
plethora of resources and information at my fingertips.
I’m on a
mission this month, doing the research necessary on how to go about the
execution, so that when it comes to creating my business plan and starting my
venture, I’ll be well equipped and in “the know”. I plan on attending a few
conferences, in particular the SOHO – SME Business Conference and Expo, which
seems to have everything from a Tradeshow to Keynote Speakers, exhibits, an “Ask-the-Expert” center and the chance to network with other small business
owners and service providers. The major appeal for me is that the Expo is free
to attend (with pre registration, see www.soho.ca/attendforfree).
Being that I intend on launching my own business, the fact that I can save
money while gathering resources, tips and tricks seems like good business sense
(which will hopefully pay off in the near future!). So hopefully if all goes
according to plan, by the end of this month I should have collected enough
business savvy advice to start putting together a business plan of my “great
idea”.
