Space Flights Affordable by 2010
The flamboyant and ambitious tycoon of Virgin Group, Richard Branson, never stops to amaze: By 2009 Virgin Galactic will start commercial flights to space. You can book your flight, but you'll need a hefty bank account. Tickets cost $200,000.
Around 85,000 have shown interest and registered at Virgin Galactic. 80 of them have been through medical assessment and centrifuge training at the Nastar facility in Philadelphia.
SpaceShipTwo will carry 6 astronauts and two pilots on each flight. It will initially fly once per week to progress to two flights per day once Spaceport America in New Mexico, the future home of Virgin Galactic's suborbital flights, is ready.
By 2010 space tourism for the middle class will become reality. $20,000 for a space Odyssey is a pretty affordable price to fulfil a lifelong dream.
