"With the continuous improvement of the economy in Papua New Guinea, the country is attracting more tourists and foreign investments. We see the need for our money transfer business in this market," said Nick Cunnew, senior regional director of MoneyGram International Ltd, Asia Pacific and Indian Sub-continent Region. "In 2006, the PNG Foreign Affairs Department also estimated that up to 14,000 Papua New Guineans are living and working in Australia. This partnership with Westpac Bank allows our customers a safe, fast way for sending and receiving money on Papua New Guinea."To receive money via MoneyGram, a receiver can simply walk into any MoneyGram money transfer agent location in the destination country, complete a receive form and upon showing of photo identification receive funds in as little as ten minutes after the transaction is sent, subject to agent availability and hours of operation.
"We continue to expand our worldwide network," said Cunnew. "Speed, convenience, reliability, and value are important considerations for money transfer consumers and priorities for MoneyGram," said Nick Cunnew. "Value pricing, in addition to our service reputation, attracts customers to the MoneyGram service in this important, emerging money transfer market."
