Formerly the largest metropolis of Canada (a distinction acquired by Toronto in the mid-1970s), it is the second-largest French-speaking city in the Western world after Paris. As of the 2006 Canadian Census, 1,620,693 people resided in the city of Montreal proper.[1] The population of the Montreal Census Metropolitan Area (also known as Greater Montreal Area) was 3,635,571 at the same 2006 census.[3] Montreal is ranked as the 15th-largest metropolitan area in Northern America[5][6] and 74th-largest in the world. In 2007, Montreal was ranked as the 10th cleanest city in the world, tied with Vancouver.[1]

...ok, I admit it, this was a test story.  Still - Montreal is a cool city.

I used to live in Montreal near the 2-20, which goes west to Toronto. In the mid-70's, when standing on the highway overpass, you could count the U-Haul's driving west filled with corporate furniture and CEO's... hurtling towards the new centre of the world...
