Most of the old Shotgun Houses are Falling apart.

Driving through Louisiana, I notice that most of the old shotgun houses are just falling apart. Some are restored and added to newer houses and made into guest houses and such. But for the most part these old Houses are falling apart being torn down and and some have been burned. Believe it or not there are people that actually live in some of them . I have noticed that a house lived in lasts but an empty house falls apart.

As children we were told that these were once slave quaters. When I was young there was an area in New Roads Louisiana refered to as" Harold Quaters". This is one such house. I have decided to begin taking pictures of the old places before they are all replaced by trailors.
