I really was going to start out the same way Mike started out his posting about this. So, I will do it now:

As an Orioles fan, there have been a few things that have shaken my world and caused me to rethink my belief in the goodness that is inherent in all people, but most importantly, the goodness that can be found in baseball.
When Eddie Murray was run out of town back in the late 80s, it was the first time that I saw that baseball was not so innocent as I saw through a child%u2019s eyes. I remember thinking, %u201CHow could something like this happen? How could the Orioles let go of one of the greatest players in the game?%u201D Nothing seemed right. But somehow I found my way back to the innocence.
In 1994, Bud Selig did the unimaginable. He actually cancelled the World Series that year. They had been playing the World Series through wars and depression and all sorts of social trauma. However, men fighting over money trumped all of that, and they found a way to reck one of the good things in life. One of those things that you can count on.
