La Mesa, CA - At approximately 11:00 am, La Mesa Police stopped to question a man who was in a large moving truck parked in the alley behind 3rd Avenue in La Mesa, California.

Without warning, the man ran away from police and crashed through the door of a residence on 3rd Avenue. During the short pursuit, the man dropped what police would only describe as "a weapon".

Police called in cover-units immediately and the residence was surrounded. After a brief negotiation, all of the occupants, five in all, were safely removed without incident.

Police determined that the suspect was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant and he was taken into custody. The weapon found and the circumstances of the moving truck are still under investigation.
