MTV pre-awards parties begin in Miami

MIAMI (AP) %u2014 As a tropical storm targeted southern Florida, MTV said Wednesday it has plans in place to deal with rough weather leading up to its Video Music Awards.

The pre-awards bash officially began Wednesday afternoon at the opening of Hotel MTV on trendy South Beach. Diddy also known as Sean "Puffy" Combs  is playing host to Sunday's awards show and was present at the ceremonies kicking off four days of pool parties and musical performances at the Doubletree Surfcomber.
