I wonder how often this sort of thing happens... what would have happened had Paris Hilton figured out that she could tag her kinkajou and subsequently escape into the wilds of Los Angeles?

The chief suspect in an Israeli murder case skipped house arrest and escaped a scheduled court appearance by transferring his electronic tag to his dog, police said on Thursday.

It was only when police turned up on his doorstep on Thursday to inquire why he had failed to attend a court appearance for the murder trial that officers realised he had vanished without trace.

"We turned up there and after knocking on the door and realising no one was at the house, we found a dog there with the gadget on him," police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said.
