I tell you, you can't even trust a roof to keep burglars out.

My friend, let's call him Marc, lives in Vancouver, Canada. He just wrote me this email and included a picture from his mobility wireless telephone.

Dear Thelma and Duncan.

Can you believe we just opened our presents and had gone outside for a walk and Velma's cphone started to ring whilst we were walking around Stanley Park, and it was our burglar alarm company saying we had burglars!

We rushed home to find the alarm still ringing and a hole in the roof and stuff scattered around. I called a roofing company and they locked things down pretty good, and the burglar company came and are updating our security system.

What a mess. Hope you and Duncan have a great New Year!

So that's about it. I thought Vancouver, Canada was a very nice city. We've been there several times visiting and the people are very friendly and do not look like the type to go breaking into other people's homes. Here in Pahrump everybody knows everybody else, so it's only when you get some escapees from Nevada Corrections that there's anything to fret about.

But there are lots of guns in Canada, I was surprised to learn that from that silly fellow's documentary about 911, you know that fatso with the red hat. He went to Toronto Canada and walked right into peoples homes, they didn't even lock the doors. Can you imagine that.

O and by the way I am really getting to like this Now Public business. I'm a grandmother and just learned how to use the computer awhile back and now I am Miss Fancy Pants writing stories on the WWW!

I am Thelma Jesselman from Pahrump Valley, the Friendliest Folks in America.

Many thanks, Thelma,.you have done very well for a new member. Could you please see if you can improve your story by finding out some statistics about crime in Canada? that would be a big help. But please don't think this is a criticism - this is an interesting story as it is.
