Now you can get my post and that of Nowpublic “Just in and Popular Posts” on your desktops.I have made a Yahoo widget for that, Please note that it is still in Beta and it may contain some bug.You can download it here and send me your feedback on how i can or you could help me improve it.
Note: Updated to Version 0.3 Beta
Change:
- Remove Drop Down Menu
- New design
- Remove Timer
- Add Refresh Btn

Two things
1. I'd suggest not using Rapidshare and when i looked at the page I thought - hey! spam post - better perhaps to host it yourself or a less spammy looking file sharer!
2. you don't need a widget
For just in use this http://www.nowpublic.com/developing/feed?filter=news&order=recent
For world Polular use this http://www.nowpublic.com/developing/feed?filter=news&order=votes
Basically, EVERY conceivable category, tag, poster etc has its own RSS feed which can be found at the botom right hand corner of the page.
Then just use something like RssReader.com (or any other RSS viewer) to have it pop up on the desktop.

big brother, I tried downloading the file through rapid share (I have to agree with matte that rapidshare is a horrific service) but I'm not sure what I should do with the file I received, "bb_nowpublic.widget". do i need some software from Yahoo to make this work? the idea of news on my desktop sounds pretty cool - i'd love to get this working/check it out more, any instructions you can provide would be much appreciated. thanks for in this together, I look forward to checking it out!
this is more for web pages, not desktops, but have you seen widgetbox? http://crunchgear.com/2007/01/31/blog-widget-blidget/ i wish the look and feel was a bit nicer, I'm sure more customization of that will be available in the future, but it's a cool service (we will also be launching our own later this week, ill send you a private beta invite)

Just go to Yahoo widget and have also change the download link.Note when you first double click the bb_nowpublic widget you will get a warning , just click on use widget.

bb, that's great stuff; we are going to post a 'tools' page later this week or early next, do you mind if we link to this? also, if you are familiar with subversion repositories/version control systems, i'd be happy to give you access to our dev system so you can store and publish updates to your widget/host it on np.
