Friends, play close attention to what is going on in this case. Then ask yourself this; when the government decides you have something they want to track, what will you do? Roll over or stand up?
Here is what happened: Greg Niewendorp, owner of a 160-acre farm in East Jordan in the northern end of the lower peninsula, made good on his pledge, stated in my “Farmers Say No to Animal Tags” BusinessWeek.com article in December, to resist all MDA orders related to NAIS. So when MDA reps came around a few weeks back to test his 19 cows for bovine tuberculosis, he refused to allow the testing.

This is totally new stuff for me and I am sure many NP members. Thanks for bringing it forward.
Couple of "newsy" suggestions:
1. Good idea to tell readers something about your story before handing it off to a blog or other news story on the web. This makes your "Invitation" to click through more compelling
2. Since I had never heard of NAIS before, it would be helpful to explain what it is
3. Although you do give some indication that you are opposed to this regime (and well done for doing that - it's part of being transparent and thus makes it easier for readers to get what your perspective is, rather than making them guess), somewhere in your writings about this it's a good idea to state clearly your perspective (and you might think about putting the tag "opinion" in or categorize it as opinion.
3. Think about your headline - what's going to really draw people in who know nothing about your story?
There's some headline writing tips and other juicy stuff here.
So now I get to say the main thing - I've marked this item as Good Stuff which means it'll show up much more prominently at NowPublic!

Thanks...this was totally unexpected, thought I was lost in the crowd. I took your suggestion to heart, read the juicy stuff and have started a piece on NAIS.
I have a general question. What makes an article "exclusive"? I was trying to figure that out the other day.
Cheers,
Sharon
