As I've tried to say in these forums before, the political left is no better when it comes to issues surrounding power than the right-wing. Using the perjorative "Liberal" when addressing me or my commentary is useless. I have never been as liberal as those who claim the moniker define it, nor the negativism the American conservative wields as a baton.
To me, both narrow perspectives are at their basest components European political paradigms that have nothing to do with me other than a colonialist claim to jurisdiction over my person. - The Angryindian

The Nation urges Cindy Sheehan not to run for Congress against Nancy Pelosi: "The Nation magazine, a leading voice of left-liberalism, has come out in opposition to antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan’s decision to run for Congress as an independent against Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in 2004 in Iraq and who set up a protest camp outside George W. Bush’s Crawford, Texas ranch in 2005, announced earlier this month that she would contest Pelosi’s seat in San Francisco’s 8th Congressional District."

Thanks for posting this, Angryindian! In the original article, it states:
“Most important, Sheehan already has a crucial role in our politics: as an activist. More than any other single person, she changed the discourse about the war. She put a middle American face on the antiwar movement at a time when it was widely caricatured as a ragtag collection of hippies, Stalinists, and movie stars.”
The stated "....crucial role...." for Ms. Sheehan to play is incorrect. Cindy Sheehan 'retired' from the anti war movement, after being disillusioned by BOTH parties, including the Democrats she'd hoped would do more, in her resignation letter, from a role she no longer desired, where she identified herself as ".... the face of the American anti war movement."

she is a sad story of how liberals use tragic figures and then spit them out after they are finished exploiting them.

Conservatives have their own golden cows and pillory many. No high ground to stand on here!
